Turtle Brownies

--If you are on a diet, I apologize...kinda :)) THESE ARE SOOOO CHEAT WORTHY! It is kind of a lot of steps and does take a little time to make but like I said, soooo worth it!--

INGREDIENTS:
*Brownie layer*
4oz - unsweetened chocolate
3/4 cup - butter
2 cups - sugar
4 - eggs; slightly beaten
1 cup - flour

*Caramel layer*
14oz bag - individual wrapped caramels; unwrapped of course!
1/3 cup - heavy cream

12oz - chocolate chips
1 cup - chopped pecans

STEP 1:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 13x9 with foil and grease it well!

STEP 2:
Melt chocolate and butter over low-medium heat, stir often and be sure not to let it boil you could scorch the chocolate.

STEP 3:
Stir in the sugar, mix well and remove from heat and let cool for TEN minutes

STEP 4:
While the mix is cooling - in a seperate bowl slightly beat eggs and set aside, get your cup of flour ready and also set aside. After ten minutes has passed mix in the eggs and blend well then add in the flour and make sure the whole thing is well mixed. Pour half the batter in the pan and bake for 15-25 minutes(depends on the oven) OR until set.

STEP 5:
While the brownies are baking start melting your caramels. Melt them over low heat with the cream, stiring often to make sure you don't burn the caramel. *TRICK: spray your rubber spatula with a little cooking spray so the caramel doesnt stick to it*

STEP 6:
When completley melted pour over the baked brownie half and spread evenly across

STEP 7:
Evenly spread the chocolate chips across the caramel layer

STEP 8:
Pour the rest of the brownie batter over the chocolate chip/caramel layer and then evenly sprinkle the cup of pecans

STEP 9:
Bake for another 22-30 minutes, again just until set. It is best to let these cool before cutting them otherwise you just get a nice heaping mess (see below!) I couldn't resist myself last night :))

ENJOY!
:)) Courtney
